Leonardo Da Vinci - A True Renaissance Man

Leonardo Da Vinci is a true renaissance man that brought the worlds knowledge to where we stand today. The amount of inventions created, though only a partial amount were created, gave the world a new look. Da Vinci was a very interesting man. Being the most curious and interested man, he was the first to discover many things, one of which being the human anatomy. Dissecting dead human bodies was only the beginning of his great discoveries. Flight, weapons and painting was all part of Da Vinci's interests. Paying attention to his surroundings, he understood the theory of flight, and was able to discover new ways to paint. This all connected to the future, by giving us new discoveries. Growing old and tired, Da Vinci was unable to prove some inventions, one being flight. If it weren't for him, our world would be different and much more undeveloped as it is today. Da Vinci is a true renaissance man, and he brought this world up with knowledge.

Determination

Democracy
by -Langston Hughes

 Democracy will not come
Today, this year
Nor ever
Through compromise and fear.

I have as much right
As the other fellow has
To stand
On my two feet
And own the land.

I tire so of hearing people say,
Let things take their course.
Tomorrow is another day.
I do not need my freedom when I'm dead.
I cannot live on tomorrow's bread.

Freedom
Is a strong seed
Planted
In a great need.

I live here, too.
I want freedom
Just as you.

Langston Hughes' poem, Democracy, explains how determined the African americans were when living on the edge.  The African American's survived through the challenging times by following there determination. The freedom for them was stolen by the racist, whites. They took over with power, treating the African American's with disrespect. Slavery, segregation and humiliation where used all against the African American's. Standing strong and never giving up, even when having to endure the pain, the African American's fought for freedom. With Many cultures having similar problems, the African American's educated the world on freedom. Freedom is a strong seed, and you must plant it with need, for it to grow. Determination brought the African American's to freedom. Frighting for what was truly wanted, gave them hope. This Poem speaks to all cultures about the importance of believing in yourself.  To never give up is a strong trait, and can help you find your dreams and fully achieve your own Freedom. Freedom was wanted when the African American's were treated with disrespect. Determination brought them to freedom. Believe in yourself and you can find your own freedom.

Love

Love
Love journey's into your heart
Wrapped in warmth and affection
Drawing you closer to happiness

In the Alchemist, Coelho gives Santiago love. He shows that the world is not complete without love. With love being the most powerful feeling, Santiago gets a temptation to stop his journey on finding his destiny, and live a life with Fatima, Santiago's true love. "Im going to wait here for you everyday. I have crossed the desert in search of a treasure that is somewhere near the pyramids, and for me, the war seemed a curse. But now it's a blessing, because it brought me to you," (Coelho 91).  Coelho speaks through Santiago teaching the world about true love. By trusting your actions, you will lead yourself to true love. All cultures have true love, yet some may not find it. If you listening to your heart, and trusting yourself, you are guarantied love. Your heart is your guide through life. When shunning your heart, you will leave yourself in darkness. The closer you are to loving, the closer you are to true happiness. Love has a chance to reach everybody. Everyone sees love some what the same, even different cultures. Listen to your heart, and to will feel love journey into your heart.

Down in my Tears

The Personal Guide

“And he saw that the soul of the world was his own soul. And that he, a boy could perform miracles (Coelho 145).” Santiago was different than everyone. He was able to perform miracles from god. Starting off as a young Sheppard boy, Santiago felt that he was finished with his life. When receiving a signal from an old king, Santiago leaves for his journey to find his destiny. Starting off in his hometown, Andalusia, Spain he makes his way to Egypt. While uncovering his destiny, Santiago finds himself finding love and being mentored by the Alchemist. Determination, bravery, and confidence, were the three qualities Santiago acquired while on his meaningful adventure to find his destiny.

Text Box: Page 1With determination, Santiago never gave up on his adventure. The journey starts with Santiago meeting an old King, King Melchezidec. Santiago learns about everyone’s destiny, and how the world does everything it can to help realize one’s destiny. From starting as a Sheppard, Santiago is very attached to his beloved sheep. A crossroad traps Santiago into making a big decision. The boy learns from King Melchezidec, and with determination, Santiago will follow his destiny, and never stop until he achieves success. When wondering around in a market, Santiago gets robbed. Leaving him with nothing, an Omen had spoken to him. “He learned that there were certain things one shouldn’t ask about, so as not to flee from one’s own destiny.” Santiago promises not to flee from his own destiny and that he will never give up by using all of his strength to continue. Even though Santiago has nothing left, his determination still shines. “The power of your heart is the soul of the world.” When listening to your heart, you learn to never give up. The Alchemist becomes Santiago’s mentor. With the Alchemists wisdom, Santiago learns to always listen to your heart and never to give up. When Face-to-face with his destiny, Santiago briefly forgot about his destiny. “But there he was, at the point of finding his treasure and he reminded himself that no project is completed until its objective has been achieved.” Determination pulls himself past his challenge to achieve his destiny. Santiago realizes that giving up on his destiny wouldn’t lead him any closer to happiness. King Melchezidec, the thief and the Alchemist all gave Santiago strength to use his determination to continue and never give up on his journey.

Bravery was the key. Without this powerful characteristic, Santiago would have suffered every step of the way while realizing his destiny. The great oasis forced him to use all of his bravery, especially when meeting with the tribal chief. Santiago was delivered a message from the Alchemist in the form of the flight of two eagles. Santiago warns the tribal chieftain about a surprise war. With Santiago being a traveler, the chief doubts his message, yet still gives the boy a chance. Every five men that fall dead Santiago is given a reward. If no men fall dead, the chief will slay Santiago. “It was a frightening bet. But he had been marking risky bets ever since the day he had soled his sheep to pursue his destiny, (page 103).” Santiago was risking his life for the safety of others. With his bravery he was able to warn the chief and would be able to continue on his adventure. When a tribal chief from the opposite side captured Santiago and the Alchemist, Santiago stepped up. Santiago’s bravery creates an option for the two of them to be freed. Turning into the wind was the only way out. Using his heart and everything he believed in, Santiago successfully completed the challenge. Without his bravery, the boy would not have been able to step up and find a way out. Santiago is still on his journey to find his treasure, yet he comes across the most difficult challenge, love. “I came to tell you just one thing,” the boy said. “I want you to be my wife. I love you,” (Coelho 91). Santiago asks Fatima to be his wife. When stumbling across Fatima, Santiago loses his desire to continue. He is truly in love. Being brave, Santiago lets Fatima wait, since she is a woman of the desert, she understnds. Without the bravery to leave Fatima, Santiago would not have been able to follow his dream. The tribal chieftain, the Alchemist and Fatima, were all challenges for Santiago. Bravery being the key, Santiago would not have achieved his destiny without this characteristic.

Text Box: Page 2Being confident is a power of self-trust. Gaining confidence, nothing was able to stop Santiago from completing his adventure. The old king, Melchezidec, taught Santiago all about confidence. Santiago tells himself to trust his actions and never leave his hopes. He is given the choice to either stay home and continue being a shepherd, or start his journey to find his destiny. When at this crossroad, the boy believes in himself and takes the decision he believes in. When leaving for Egypt to find his hidden treasure, Santiago becomes confident. The confidence of Santiago is great, and he won’t have a problem completing his adventure. “The stranger withdrew the sword from the boy’s forehead, and the boy felt immensely relieved. But he still couldn’t flee,” (Coelho 106). The Alchemist is a very divine human. When testing Santiago’s strength, the boy had the option to flee, yet took the chance to know and learn from this stranger, the Alchemist. The confidence of Santiago is overpowering when revealing himself and not giving up. With blood being drawn, expecting him to flee and hide, Santiago stays strong and fights off the pain. The attack was harsh; to never give up was the challenge. When love comes along, Santiago becomes trapped. With Fatima’s love and hope for Santiago, it was hard for the boy to leave Fatima. Yet this was only a challenge. With his confidence, Santiago is able to leave Fatima temporarily, while he continues and follows his destiny. Santiago believes in himself and trusts that he will come back for his love. His confidence stands strong and will never die, especially when his love is waiting. Suffering, sadness, and pain all test him to give up. When Santiago finds confidence through king Melchezidec, he was able to fight the challenge the alchemist gives him, while dealing with the pain of leaving Fatima behind.

Following your heart is your personal guide through life. Your heart grants you your own unique character traits. With determination, bravery and confidence, Santiago conquered all of his challenges in seeking out his destiny. Everyone around the world is trying to achieve his or her own destiny. With their own challenges and adventures, they will find true happiness by following there personal guide. To never give up, never be afraid and always fight back will be the way Santiago continues to live his life. He was able to find love, travel and experience the world of challenges from following his personal guide, his heart.

Down in my Tears

Living a life through school is the biggest experience I have been going through. With all the good times come challenges. Never giving up helps more then anything. Determination is my key through life. When Moving to a new home, with new people, I am tempted to give up. Realizing that there is a very small chance to ever see my friends again. I learned that giving up doesn't move me any closer to true happiness. With determination, this move is more a challenge. I must use determination to keep moving on, and continue to a new home. The challenge of moving to a new home is a very difficult task to conquer. Being determined, I am able to fight the pain off and never give up. I will always have hope, even when I'm down in my tears I wont give up.

            Coldplay Lost Growing Up

‘With age comes the inner, the higher life,’ (Elizabeth Cady Stanton). As you get older life is definitely going to become more challenging. Gaining the higher life, you get ready for these challenges, well at least I am. The song Lost sang by Coldplay reflects on my teen years. This song shows what happens while you become older. I’ve always been behind in my growing, yet I will catch up. While missing the times, when you were small and innocent. I am just waiting till the maturity catches on. The song Lost teaches me, life will get really challenging, yet I will succeed through the challenges. Coldplay is getting you ready for adulthood. Through my life it becomes similar to how I am going through adolescents. Given a challenge, suffered yet got back on my feat and succeeded. Life is never simple. It’s easy to assume that it will never get tough; we think what we want to believe. Even though life has gotten tough, I’m not one to quit. Perseverance is one of my key qualities, and I have a habit for enduring tough situations and making the best of them. Just because I’m hurting, doesn’t mean I’m hurt. My teen years are going to get tough, but I will continue and be rewarded. Just because I’m losing, doesn’t mean I’m lost.

Coldplay - Lost

Coldplay - Lost - Lyrics

Just because I’m Losing
Doesn’t mean I’m lost
Doesn’t mean I’ll stop
Doesn’t mean I will cross

Just because I’m hurting
Doesn’t mean I’m hurt
Doesn’t mean I didn’t get what I deserved
No better and no worse

I just got lost
Every river that I tried to cross
Every door that I tried was locked
Oh and I’m just waiting ‘till the shine wears off

You might be a big fish in a little pond
Doesn’t mean you’ve won
‘Cause along may come
A bigger one

And I’m lost
Every river that I tried to cross
Every gun you have ever held went off
Oh and I’m just waiting ‘til the firing stopped
Oh and I’m just waiting ‘til the shine wears off

Oh and I’m just waiting ‘til the shine wears off
Oh and I’m just waiting ‘til the shine wears off

The Desire of a Great Sport

The Desire of a Great Sport

Desire is the most important factor in the success of any athlete, (Willie Shoemaker). Have you ever desired something so important to you, that it changes you life by a lot? I have been playing basketball more than 7 years. Without it my life wouldn't be what it is now. 7 years ago my sister and I where introduced the beautiful sport, basketball. I was only a little kid and new nothing, yet I loved basketball. This brought me to who I am. I started as a little boy and became a bright, kind teenager. With the years of fun and practice I have been rewarded many times. Tournaments, medals, enjoyment and love. My most valuable reward was the awesome tournament. Our team beat everyone’s butt. Winning the gold medal, yet the best reward from this was the fun we all had. We beat everyone with fairness and enjoyment. Basketball is my most desired sport. I have gone so far with this hobby, and I am planning to continue it. With the rewards from playing and loving this beautiful sport, I have changed in many ways, the ways I love.
